After a recent trip to our friend Lola's place and afternoon tea with Lola's home made 'man bickies', we decided to give it a try ourselves. Ela loved mixing, pouring and generally making a mess, but most of all she loved the cookie cutter. She thought it was playdough though and due to her mum's underestimation of ingredients, the gingerbread men looked more like Mr Blobby squashed cakes. They tasted ok and Ela was proud as punch and calls them her 'special Ela made it bickies'.


For our second cooking attempt, we did chocolate crackles which were much more successful - at least in appearance. Here you can see the baker covered in cocoa and icing sugar and tasting the product - before it's even portioned out.
