Liverpool 08
This year Liverpool celebrates being the European capital of culture. Which amongst other things means plenty of activities going on in and around the city. We went to a street festival where there were loads of different street performers entertaining the crowds. We snapped just a few but there were many more keeping Ela enthralled for hours.
Liverpool One, the new shopping centre provided us with plenty more entertainment, face painting, clowns on stilts, balloons, youth bands, drumming, not to mention the shops themselves. I had a job dragging her past the huge Disney store though. Then of course there are the SuperLamBananas! Ela and I took a stroll through town the other day and snapped a few colourful specimens. Now unless you are from Liverpool, you are probably wondering what on earth these superlambananas are. Well, 125 two metre tall replicas of Taro Cheizo’s iconic SuperLambBanana sculpture have been painted, decorated and adorned by local artists, schools and community groups, to create a free to view, open air, public art spectacular. (the photos area bit small but click on them to see larger versions.)
