The Easter Show
Well this is the first year that we have been in Sydney for Easter. Ela's first was spent camping on the South coast and the second in a camper van in Western Australia. So we took the opportunity to go to the Easter Show. We caught the bus at 9.30 - a first for Ela - she was so excited, she sang 'the wheels on the bus go round and round', all the way there.

First stop was a ride on a 'flying' elephant - this was another first as she had never been on a ride alone before and she loved it. Then we walked through the animal enclosures, looking at all her favourites - pigs, sheep, horses and cows. We took part in the Milky Bar milking show - Ela even got to practice first on a plastic water filled glove!

Then she took a ride in a big red car (a VW Beetle of course) and on Thomas the Tank Engine. Next stop was a visit to the ABC trailer where she 'recorded' a DVD of herself singing Karaoke to Justine Clarke's 'I love to sing' - her current favourite song.
There wasn't much singing going on from Ela - just holding the mic and swaying and a few 'look it's Ela' as she saw herself on screen. Then we met Fifi and Bumble, ABC characters, outside on the lawn. Ela was enthralled after getting a cuddle from someone she's only ever seen in cartoon format on the TV before.
After lunch we bought a balloon (Thomas the tank) when the tantrum
hit because she wouldn't let me tie it to her - She wanted to hold the end of the string - and let it go of course! We got tattoos from radio stations and ABC kids, and a fluffy baby Mumble (Happy Feet) which has ever since been cuddled to death. We rounded off the day with a ride on a carousel and then another bus back home. It was a long day (got home at 5pm) - with mummy apparently more worn out than Ela - but plenty of happy memories to keep us going till next year - if we are here.

I know - she hasn't stopped talking about it since. But she confuses Fifi with Mifi!
