Port Macquarie

This year we headed North for our summer break and went to the Village resort in Port Macquarie. We went with Ela's good friend Oli and his mum n dad again. Child dynamics were very different this year. Last year Ela was having a midday sleep (under duress) and Oli had two sleeps a day so it meant we never got out the house much :) This time, the two of them learned a bit more sharing - although Ela almost always had the upper hand, reading Oli's books and commandeering his trucks and ride on - even though she had her own bike.
Her riding improved to the point that she could go solo (with training wheels). Her swimming also improved greatly. Most days daddy took her for a swim while Oli was sleeping and found it difficult to get her out after over an hour. With the aid of a back bubble and a noodle, she is now swimming solo, jumping in and having a whale of a time.
Other activities included bowling - which Ela called skittles - an indoor climbing frame (on the rainy day), canoeing on the lagoon and building sandcastles. We also went or a day out to nearby Wauchope and a great place called Timbertown. Ela rode a pony called Blue Boy, a steam train and in horse drawn carriage. She also played all of the turn of the century games - like riding a hobby horse, marbles, china dolls and tea set. Great place.
