Ela's first camping trip
Every Easter before Ela came along, Mark and I have gone for a road trip in the Kombi. Past destinations have included the Great Ocean Road, Airlie Beach and Byron Bay. This year, we are Kombi-less, but not to be outdone, we bought a tent and an inflatable bed, and packed up the Outback for a shorter trip to Myola, a tiny town on Jervis Bay, about 2 hrs south of Sydney. It was typical Easter weather - rainy and cool with bursts of occasional sunshine. We didn't think the tent would hold up as it was the cheapest in the shop, but it stood its ground (the rain was fairly light) and luckily it wasn't windy.
Most importantly however, Ela loved it. .

We made her a bed from her travel cot matress, and a fleece blanket and sheet to lay on then three blankets and a sheet on top. She wore her Bond's wondersuit and a sleeping bag, plus mits and a beanie. How cute - Mark kept calling her Rocky and singing the song to her. She was such a sticky beak though. She was mesmerised by the tent sides and kept 'playing' with the side closest to her. She was also pleased as punch everytime she spotted my face lying next to her.

We just lazed around the campsite - Ela sat in her baby bouncer and checked out the birds in the trees and we walked along the beach with her a few times. Unfortunately it was way too cold to swim in the pool or the sea, but she did take a bath in the campsite laundry tub.
